It was not the end of the world; but when that time finally comes it will no doubt look much like this morning.
On the western horizon a boiling, churning wall of purple-black filled the space between earth and sky. The towering wall of darkness drove before it waves of destruction.
Winds peppered the sides of buildings with trash cans, benches, and garden gnomes. Trees bent double in submission, many leaving branches scattered across the ground. Birds flapped their wings frantically in a bid to escape the rushing currents threatening to drive them to the ground.
In mere moments the ordinary was forgotten - just as, when the time comes, the world will fade to black.
Musings on everyday life. Hopefully sharing my experiences will give someone a chuckle when they need it, knowledge they can put to use, or just a moment's respite from daily chaos.

Battle for Dawn
Dawn came late today, delayed by the lingering cloud cover of Hurricane Sandy. When light finally did find its way through, it was not the soft blend of red, orange, and pink of a breathtaking sunrise; but a silver that made me think of burnished steel.
It was as though the only way for light to return was to slice through the clouds with sweeping strokes of a heavenly sword.
The sword and clouds warred throughout the day with clouds winning back the field with the approach of desk.
Perhaps tomorrow's dawn will bring the blood red of a finished battle.
